We'll be trying other places.
Good food, excellent service, all set in a historic tavern. The food is pub themed, but you really can't go wrong. Note that they only have beer and wine, but a great selection of both. If it's cold outside try to get a seat by the fire!
My wife and I were hoping that with the recent change in ownership, it would revitalize a very cool, but long-in-the-tooth restaurant. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The place got a good, much-needed cleaning, but the fare actually took a step backward. Some of the standout favorites, like the pizza, are gone and what's left on the pared-down menu is mediocre at best. The fried pickles used to have a nice, spicy bite, but now they're just bland and tasteless. The chicken fingers are ok, but nothing special. My wife requested the potato soup and the waitress all but apologized that their soup isn't as chunky as one normally expects and she was right. It, too, is ok but, again, nothing special. Nothing tasted homemade. In all, there's really nothing to recommend this restaurant at this point other than the atmosphere. We left pretty disappointed in our experience, especially in comparison to our past experiences there, and likely won't be back, which is a shame because the Tavern used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Yellow Springs.
She was very put out and walked away from us. I wasn't sure if we were to follow or not. Luckily we did because she walked to the next room and placed our menus at a booth and didn't say another word to us.
But the food was good.
Enjoyed a late lunch of burgers and fried sauerkraut balls. The burgers were very good and our waitress was very nice.
I really liked this place, it had a kinda townie feel in a place that's a little over the top on the hippy vibe-o-meter. Good sandwiches, fries and fast no frills service. Decent beer selection too.
Typical Midwest diner, with friendly service and reasonable prices. I do commend the corned beef hash for breakfast! It was much better than i expected... Very good, really! It was homemade (not the canned stuff that some diners serve).
Disappointing to start out our first experience here like that.
The only disappointing experience we had was when we first walked in the hostess was going to sit us at a table by the door and I asked if we could have a booth.
